New York Fashion Week is here! Yesterday the BCBG Max Azria Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection hit the runway. I think I am in love! The collection is so colorful and youthful and the insets of the sheer fabrics adds some sex appeal to the dresses without showing to much. Check out some of my favorite designs from the collection:

Totally Turnlock Watch

I am not a fan of bracelet watches but this one landed on my wish list. It is stylish and functional (well maybe not that functional since you can’t just look at your wrist and know what is the time). The watch reminds me of “Inspector Gadget” in a way ha ha ha. The turnlock is what takes this watch from blah to cool.

Lady GaGa
Lady GaGa looks fabulous in this photograph. The makeup and the way the black tulle is arranged around her face enhances the sadness in her eyes. It is very reminiscent of Marylin Monroe. Why the diamonds? Because “diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” Marylin sang this song in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” but my favorite Marylin Monroe movie is “Some Like It Hot.” What is yours?

You know you have reached a new low when you spend a half hour refreshing the #chrisbrownsbowtie trending topic on Twitter. Chris Brown’s bow-tie became, what my sister taught me, an instant internet meme (I didn’t know what that was, I guess at 22 years old you are no longer hip and with the times lol). My understanding of an internet meme is that it is an inside joke that spreads quickly over the internet. Why was #chrisbrownsbowtie the #1 trending topic on twitter after his interview on Larry King Live was televised? Why was what he said in the interview not the #1 topic? Because we learned absolutely nothing new, except that Rihanna calls Chris Brown’s mom “mom,” but that is not what we tuned in for was it? Or maybe this reveals that many of us can easily lose our focus by even the most miniscule of things.

Steven Klein recently photographed Rihanna for a spread in Vogue Italia. The styling, makeup, and setup of these photographs are ferocious! Definitely one of the coolest layouts I have seen lately. It does scream “Extreme Couture.” The black and white photographs accentuate the contrast of the materials of which the couture ensembles are made.

Dreamy Logo Pocket Pouchette

Why are we attracted to things we know will never work for us? The 6″H x 9″L x 3″D handbag is not large enough to fit all of the stuff I carry around. I also find handbags with logos splashed all over them to be in extremely low taste. Unless I receive the item for free, then it is fine ha ha ha. But seriously I don’t think the walking advertisement thing is very attractive. However, there is something that makes this bag very appealing. Maybe because the embossed logo is not so obvious. Cross-body bags are all the rage right now and the color makes a nice statement. To me it just has that cool aura just like the iconic designer himself…Marc Jacobs.

I will think about these babies for the 2-3 weeks it will take for them to get home. Usually items don’t take that long to ship from Gilt Groupe but I am willing to wait because of the money I am saving. If you are a fashionista that appreciates quality and likes to invest in pieces that will last for years, if not forever, this is a site you need to join. I love flower earrings so I could not pass on those Filigree Flower Earrings. Those purple gems make them even more adorable. I would pair them with a purple dress. Maybe not purple to not be so matchy matchy. Perhaps another color outfit without any prints. Something about that Three Chain and Flower Brooch Necklace screams vintage chic. I just need to find the perfect little black dress to pair with the necklace.

Christian Louboutin can do no wrong in my book. These pumps’ 4 inch heel isn’t the only thing that is killer about these shoes. It is also the python design. Made in one of my favorite colors and this is a shoe that I will daydream about for more than a day. The only nightmare here is the price-tag. Men take note: Diamonds aren’t a girl’s only best friend…so is Christian Louboutin.

I usually would not recommend a dress in this shape for someone curvy like me because it does not accentuate curves. However, for my birthday last year I wore a dress in the same cut and with ruffles to boot and it looked fabulous, which is shocking because a dress like that should have made me look huge ha ha ha. I love the exposed zipper and ruffle detailing that goes down the center of this dress. It shows that you don’t have to wear bold colors or busy prints to make a statement.

If it wasn’t already obvious that I like bright colors check out this simple yet stunning purple dress. Mini dresses are great if you are short because they make your legs look longer. It hangs loosely below the chest and the simple stitch detailing adds just enough interest. I am also a fan of the sweetheart neckline. This dress has all of the elements of my favorite kinds of party dresses…except for the hefty price tag.
