I was on Twitter today and found out that one of my favorite sites to stalk MAC Collections, Temptalia, posted several blog entries today on upcoming MAC Holiday/Winter 2009 Collections. Check out my thoughts below and click on the names of the collection for more details (list of products and images when available) over at Temptalia.
Holiday 2009 Collections:
Magic, Mirth, & Mischief Colour Collection – This collection has so many lip and eye products to choose from. I’m excited for the Cremesheen Glass repromotes. I have Ever So Rich. Although they have little color pay-off, I love the vanilla aroma without the stickiness, and even after the gloss wears off my lips still feel moisturized. The collection contains some new Mineralize Eye Shadow Duos and Mineralize Blush for those mineralize fans out there. There will also be 3 new Dazzleglasses. Release Date: October 15th, 2009
Magic, Mirth, & Mischief Eye/Lip Kits – This portion of the massive holiday collection contains 8 mini palettes for the lips, eyes, and face. Mini palettes tend to collect dust in my drawers but are great gifts for makeup junkies always on the road. Release Date: October 15th, 2009
Magic, Mirth, & Mischief Lip/Eye Bags – The lip bags sound cute with a coordinating lipstick, dazzleglass and lip pencil in each set. The eye bags contain a fluidline, pigment, mascara, and an eyeliner brush. This portion also contains the brush sets that I constantly warn people about. Do not expect the same quality you get from a full size brush. The brushes are mass produced. The bristles are not cut the same and do not feel as gentle on the face. I got an angle brush last year in a set that was to rough even on my brows. There are some MAC holiday brush set defenders out there that did not agree with my comments in the past and to them I say this is my opinion and that you have obviously not tried their full size counterparts to make that assertion. If you have experienced a MAC full size brush you will consider the holiday sets a downgrade. The brushes may be cute but are good for touch-ups at best. Some of the brushes are decent (168SE and 190SE for example) but the collective are a lesson in you get what you pay for. Save the $49.50 and buy a full size brush or two. Release Date: October 15th, 2009
Exclusive Holiday Kits/Sets – MAC will also be releasing 2 kits, one of which will be exclusive to Nordstrom and the other to MAC Stores. Available everywhere will be a Viva Glam Lip Kit and their Kids Helping Kids collection to help their HIV/AIDS initiatives. Release Date: October 15th, 2009
Mischief Makers Collection - This collection features sets of miniature liplasses/lustreglasses and pigments/glitters. Magnetique lipglass, one of the lip colors I was obsessed with this year, will be repromoted in one of the sets. The understated Instant Gold lustreglass is also a personal favorite that will be included in the same set. Release Date: November 5th, 2009
Winter Collections:
Baroque Boudoir Collection – This collection is one of their special couture collections with luxe packaging. This year the collection features silver colored packaging embossed with the classic baroque print. I find the packaging more aesthetically pleasing than last year’s Monogram Collection. The collection includes lipsticks, lipgloss, compact/sheer mystery powders, and a clutch. Release Date (limited locations): November 25th, 2009
Love Lace Collection – This is a small collection with colors that sound as delicate as the lace in the name of the collection. The colors include some of the typical greys, silvers, blues and pinks you wear in the winter. The popular Kohl Power eye pencils will be back. Feline Kohl Power fans have no fear. You can buy another Feline soon if you run out of the one you just purchased from the D Squared Collection. Release Date: December 26th 2009
Warm & Cozy Collection - So excited for this collection only because 2N lipglass will be back. It is my favorite lipglass/lip color in the history of my life ha ha ha. It is the perfect combination of creamy nude and pink loveliness. This collection is huge with new Shadesticks and Mineralize Skinfinishes in addition to more lip products, eye shadows and nail lacquers. Two new products will be launched: Mineralize Face & Body Lotion and Care Blends Essential Oils. Can’t wait to learn more about those. Release Date: December 26th, 2009
MAC in Lillyland (Lilly Pulitzer) Collection – What is a Pearlmatte Eyeshadow or Face Powder? We will find out with this collection. The products are described as a mixture of shades in a flower pattern. Sounds like fluff to me. What is a Cremeblend Blush? We will find that out too. Perhaps a cream blush with a different formula from their Blushcreme. This collection will be one that I will have to check out in person. Release Date: January 7th, 2010
All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Collection – A collection named after the brand’s mantra means that there will be something for everyone in this collection. Of course there will be a selection of lip, eyes, and face product but this is yet another collection with products I have not heard of before: Impeccable Brow Pencil that will be permanent and Penultimate Brow Marker (limited edition). Looks like MAC wants to go toe to toe with Anastasia brow products. I’m interested to see what these Impeccable Brow Pencils look like. Release Date: January 7th, 2010

The initial release with photos had me thinking I’d be free from the holiday collections. However.. the minis have caught my attention again.
They’re such a great way to try things out. :]
Do you like feline eyeliner?
I like it because it is creamy and easy to blend. It is a nightmare on my waterline because it runs like crazy on me.
